My journey so far

Dear gentle readers, I hope this blog finds you all well. I’m doing great, thank you. My quality of life has improved — I’m able to move and wake up every day with zero blisters. After two years, I’ve finally been off steroids for the last two months. I’ve been wearing nice clothes during my hospital reviews. I still have my bad days, but they don’t bother me anymore. My doctor, my well-wisher — specifically asked me to mention this, and I’m happily obligated to do so:                   “ I wore a nice dress today, and my doctor smiled at me." Yes , I wore a nice dress. I saw the smile reach his eyes, those fine lines creasing with warmth. The laughter filled the renovated room, adding the most beautiful touch to it.          YES ! My doctor was happy to see me, and we laughed at our silly jokes.               "I am a LIVING example that your patients are doing really well." My jour...

Pemphigus Vulgaris- 11 things to remember

What this journey has taught me?

Starting with simple affirmations and yearning for them to become true is where I stand today! 'That's okay! Better days are ahead of you, it's going to be fine.' They seem simpler, but the darkest times taught me that it isn't simple to hold on to them when you see your life falling apart. Picking yourself up and having the will to redesign it from scratch—everything depends on these words. So, repeat them until you make it through! YOU GOT THIS.

11 things to remember

1. You can’t control everything and that’s absolutely okay!

2. You will learn along the journey; every person is different thus every day is a learning, that’s okay!

3. You will learn to love and appreciate your life.

4. You will find ways to manage symptoms even at cost of every flare up, that’s okay!

5. The journey is long and tiring. It’s a marathon; with its finish line still out of sight, but that’s okay!

6.  Embrace your “spiritual journey”. Perhaps it is either seldom spoken about or discussed so frequently that its essence gets lost. Turn this period as an opportunity to explore your practices and beliefs.

7. Master in sleep” - You will see that no matter of the cost of the medicines that you consume, they don’t work until your sleep schedule is fixed.

8.  Food is medicine"—an age-old saying, yet the very essence of healing. What you put into your body reflects on your skin, and when the skin itself is the issue, it becomes a million-dollar question: What do you eat? The answer is as simple as it gets—home-cooked food. Being mindful of salt and oil in your meals and cutting off sugar improves the quality of life!

9. You tend to get exhausted with this endless fight, that’s okay! Look for silver linings in every situation - it’s a bare minimum effort you can put in, but it makes all the difference!

10. You will tend to unleash the unhealed version of yourself, talk it out! It is tough but communication is important.

11. It almost makes you to feel like a crime to think of a future. But YOU DO!
